Quickly and easily create your Super Bowl menu using some of my favorite simple and delicious curated recipes.
Ok let’s just get this out of the way in case you don’t know … we’re a Patriots house here. My husband and his family are from Massachusetts. I was married into it, my kids were born into it. Football is a big deal. Actually, sports in general. But I’ll be honest.. I don’t care about it so much 🙈 I used to love football, actually played flag football for my high school for a couple years. But over time, I just felt like it got boring with all the constant flags and flags and more flags and basically they might as well just start playing flag football. Don’t hate me.
But what I doooo love, is the Super Bowl parties. I don’t so much care about the commercials (again, don’t hate me) but I do love allll the yummy food! And yes, I tend to overdo it. Whether it’s only a few friends or a bigger party, I love to make lots of food and most of the time I’ll spend the whole game hanging around my kitchen island where the food is. Get in my belly!
Sadly this year there will be no big party. We will likely just get together with our one set of close friends that we’ve spent some time with during this never-ending pandemic. But regardless, the Super Bowl Food shall live on!
PLANNING A SUPER BOWL PARTY MENU
When I’m planning holiday or party meals, for big groups or small, my thought process is always the same:
- MAKE CATEGORIES. Make a few categories such as heartier food, lighter snack-able food, sweet treat, meatless, healthy… etc. If you stick to 2-4 categories it’ll make your life much easier.
- SEARCH FOR RECIPES. Search for some recipe options that catch your attention and fit into your categories.
- NARROW IT DOWN. I get over excited and can easily find 10 different things I want to make (damn you Pinterest.) If that happens to you too, narrow down to 1-2 recipes per category (depending on how big your crowd or how much you want to make.)
- AND REMEMBER VARIETY! For example, I don’t usually want hot dogs and pigs in a blanket. Or shrimp cocktail and shrimp salad. The exception is if it’s a bigger party and there will be lots of choices, then I’m ok with similar foods. HOWEVER, if it’s just you and your significant other and you guys love all things shrimp. By all means, make all the shrimp things!!
- GET HELP. Ask for help and/or don’t turn down help! Many times friends or family will ask “What can I bring?” , “What can I make?” Rather than having three people show up with fruit platters (and yes, that’s happened to me despite prepping/managing) you’ll be able to easily tell your friend, cousin, mom that they can bring a that awesome spinach dip they make or to pick up some sodas and juices.
