From quick and easy to a little more “fancy”, no matter which of these 12 delicious side dishes you choose, you’ll be sure to please everyone at the dinner table!

1. PASTA

long twirl of fettuccini noodles on a plate with a fork.

One of the most common side dishes you’ll see served with chicken alfredo is pasta, specifically fettuccine noodles. A forkful of twirled noodles coated with a creamy, cheesy alfredo sauce is simply soul-satisfying. It’s hard to beat.

But, you can also try a short-cut pasta! I personally love making Spicy Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bowls. Simply pan-fry diced chicken that’s been seasoned with Italian seasoning along with cut asparagus. Then add your favorite alfredo sauce and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or Cajun seasoning. Toss with cooked farfalle (bowtie pasta) and you’re done. Easy peasy and delicious!

2. ROASTED BROCCOLINI

Many green vegetables will not only pair well in flavor, but provide a vibrant color contrast on your plate. Roasted Broccolini is, in my opinion, one of the best side dishes. It takes literal seconds to prepare and then cooks on its own in the oven. It’s got great flavor, a nice crunch, and fills up your plate with healthy nutrients that are filling but not as heavy as some of your usual carb-filled sides which is perfect for such a rich dish like creamy chicken alfredo.

3. GARLIC BREAD

Garlic bread is another good side dish to serve with a classic chicken alfredo, especially for swiping up that creamy cheese sauce! Yum!! Go for a homemade garlic bread loaf, quick and easy frozen garlic breadsticks, or try these delicious, pillowy and garlicky bread twists. It’s a simple recipe using refrigerated pizza dough!

4. ZUCCHINI PARMESAN ROUNDS

For a lighter option with a similar flavor, try this great recipe for Air Fryer Zucchini Parmesan Rounds. Zucchini slices are topped with a healthy dose of parmesan cheese, some fresh cracked black pepper and garlic powder, then air fried until they’re golden brown with a slight crisp! It’s a great way to get delicious flavor out of healthier, simple ingredients.

5. BALSAMIC TOMATO SALAD

white bowl of halved grape tomatoes tossed with parsley.

Another lighter side is a simple Balsamic Tomato Salad. Halved cherry tomatoes, sliced red onion, and balsamic vinegar are tossed with bright, fresh basil. It’s a simple side dish that will provide a punch of bright flavor to your mellow alfredo sauce.

6. PARMESAN ROASTED CARROTS

green platter with roasted garlic parmesan carrots.

This great recipe for roasted carrots is HEAVEN if you love garlic! So many carrot recipes tend to lean on the sweeter side, but these are savory, garlicky, and a surprisingly perfect side dish for Chicken Alfredo.

7. BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus is the perfect choice for special occasions because it just looks a little bit more fancy, though it’s super easy to make! You can wrap bundles of asparagus or wrap each one individually. The smoky flavor of the bacon pairs really well with the creamy alfredo sauce and chicken.

8. SIMPLE SIDE SALAD

bowl of green leaf lettuce with croutons, bottle of olive oil and pepper shaker on the side.

A simple fresh salad of spring mix with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and black pepper would be an excellent choice to cut through the creamy sauce and add a nice zesty contrast.

Of course, a Caesar Salad, with its tangy, zippy bite would also be wonderful option!

9. SAUTÉED GREEN BEANS WITH RED PEPPERS & ALMONDS

This easy side dish is ready in 20 minutes and will add a lot of great flavor, color, and texture to your chicken alfredo dish. Crisp-tender green beans and bell pepper are lightly sauteed with crunchy almonds and topped with fresh, nutty parmesan.

10. MASHED POTATOES

pot of mashed potatoes with a wooden spoon sticking out.

Yep. Skip the noodles and go for potatoes. You see tons of creamy chicken recipes served over mashed potatoes, so why not creamy alfredo chicken?! The flavors mesh well together and the alfredo serves as a type of “gravy” for the potatoes. It’s a win-win!

11. SAUTEED SPINACH

oval plate of sauteed spinach with garlic.

An easy way to lighten up a chicken alfredo recipe is by serving it atop a bed of simple sauteed spinach. The creamy alfredo sauce over the spinach is reminiscent of creamed spinach and tastes absolutely divine! This is actually a great choice to serve along with garlic breadsticks. (Ya, sort of defeats making it a healthier meal, but, you know, everything in moderation.)

12. GARLIC MUSHROOMS

This recipe for sauteed mushrooms uses whole white or cremini (baby bella) mushrooms instead of sliced. Personally, I love the texture and that fun little pop when you bite into a whole mushroom!  Sauteed with a healthy dose of garlic, onion, and the fresh flavors of parsley and thyme, this is a fabulous choice for any Chicken Alfredo recipe!
